Google hat das SDK für seine Handy Plattform Android veröffentlicht. Das frische Handy Betriebssystem läuft auf der Basis von Linux 2.6 und bietet vielen Open-Source Anwendungen ein neues Zuhause.

Um möglichst viele brauchbare Applikationen für die neue Plattform zu haben, hat Google auch gleich mal einen Entwicklerwettbewerb ins Leben gerufen. Insgesamt 10 Millionen Dollar sollen an die Entwickler verteilt werden. Für jede innovative Applikation soll es zwischen 25.000 und 275.000 amerikanische Bucks geben.

Auch trotz des schlechten Dollar-Kurs ein durchaus lohnendes Unterfangen.

Eins muss man Android wohl lassen, es dürfte das erste "Handy" Betriebssytem sein, das schon bei der Vorstellung eine lauffähig Version des 3D-Shooters Quake an Board hat.

- Rich development environment including a device emulator, tools for debugging, memory and performance profiling, and a plugin for the Eclipse IDE
